How We Help

From advice and education here on our site, to legal and financial support from our expert team, we make sure patients have all the help they need on their journey to recovery.

Welfare benefits

Day One recognise the financial uncertainties and worry caused as a consequence of unexpected injuries.

Working in partnership with Leeds Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Day One is able to offer eligible patients a free welfare benefits advice clinic on the ward, to help patients and their families access the UK welfare benefits system.

The service offers:

  • Weekly clinics on the trauma ward
  • Free one-to-one, face-to-face advice to assess potential eligibility to a variety of welfare benefits
  • Pointing patients and families towards their local CAB for further assistance with the applications process

Peer support

Day One offers peer support from ex patients who have travelled the trauma journey and who are willing to talk to patients and share their experiences.

  • A unique free peer support service
  • Referral from Day One 24 hour helpline to peer support group
  • Contact with patient will be made by a member of the peer support group
  • Free one-to-one, face-to-face peer support session on the trauma ward
