Just 7 months after her accident, Sarah Hackett is taking on our ‘7 Marathons in 7 Weeks’ challenge.
Sarah is now three weeks into the challenge which she is completing her own pace, but she is hoping to reach 4 miles a day by the final week.
In November 2019, Sarah broke her leg after falling off a bouldering wall and spent two weeks on the Major Trauma Ward at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
On her second day in the ward, Sarah met some of our Day One volunteers and was inspired by their own journeys to recovery, “I had all these questions running through my head, I was really anxious and worried about the future, but when I met these wonderful ladies who all had suffered similar or worse injuries than me it was amazing to see how they had come out the other side!”
Sarah added, “The volunteers not only helped me, but they made a lasting impression on my mum by giving her a huge hug when they knew she needed it!”
Thanks to her fundraising efforts, Sarah has already raised more than £800.
