Fundraising

We rely on the efforts of our supporters across the region to raise money to support the work we do. Whether you have an event you’re already planning, want to join a fundraising group, or you need help to coming up with ways to raise money, our fundraising team are here to help.

What can you do?

Raising money to help make a difference to the lives of our trauma patients and their families can be very rewarding and lots of fun too. You can join us on one of our many organised events, or create your own fun event.

There are many ways for you or your community group to raise money, from holding events such as coffee mornings, tombola or cakes sales etc. If you’re struggling for new ideas, why not contact our fundraising team to help get you started.

To help you with your fundraising events please download the Day One Fundraising Application form, fill it out and send back to us so we can provide you with a letter of authority to use if challenged by the police or a member of public.

Major trauma affects 20,000 people every year in the UK

Getting started

  • Set yourself a realistic fundraising target, don’t make it an impossible challenge! Sponsors like to see you reaching your target knowing they’ve helped.
  • Think of ways to attract attention for your event (posters, email, social media etc)
  • Whatever you create we can provide the official logo to make it look professional and offer helpful advice on marketing your event.
  • Encourage sponsors, family and friends to spread the word – you’ll raise a larger amount in a shorter space of time.
  • Keep it legal – Before you start to fundraise, please read through the Fundraising Checklist for an insight into the rules & regulations. Download the checklist
  • Press and PR – why not approach your local press telling them about your event and why you’re raising money for Day One. Extra interest and awareness for the Day One charity will help raise our profile. If you would like advice on who to approach in the media, please contact the fundraising team on 0113 206 4540.
