Our Fundraising Team were featured last week on the LTH Trust website as their Team of the Week. This is what they had to say about us:
Every year Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust receives several millions of pounds in donations through the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Charitable Foundation. This money helps to support our staff and patients, buy new equipment and improve the environment around our hospitals, as well as much more!
The Charitable Foundation team coordinate a number of appeals including Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal, Day One Trauma, Yorkshire Brain Research and many others that raise funds for a specific ward or area.
Maria Booker, Charitable Foundation Manager, said: “So much goes on here at the Charitable Foundation. One day you could be delivering collection buckets, meeting fundraisers and organising events. We also manage the governance of the charity and ensure that funds are spent how donors would wish them to be. We have a very varied job!
“The best bit is always seeing the difference that the money we raise can make to staff and patients at LTHT. We’re really proud to be able to do that.”
The team run a number of fundraising events each year and also bring in money through sponsorship of events such as marathons, mud runs and triathlons. They work closely with staff and supporters who choose to organise their own fundraising events in aid of the charity.
Part of the Foundation’s role is to help raise awareness of the work we do here at LTHT, including the patients we treat and the kind of equipment we use to do this, so that the community continue to raise funds to support us.
All funds raised by the team and our supporters are invested in improving different aspects of the hospitals. Last year, the Charitable Foundation funded free guest WiFi across the Trust which makes a big difference to patients and visitors spending long periods of time in our hospitals. They also continue to support the #hellomynameis campaign, reinforcing the importance of compassionate patient-care.
Jemma Richmond, Fundraising Co-ordinator, said: “I really enjoy working as part of this team and we all encourage each other, which is great. We are lucky to have such fantastic support from so many people who contribute time and money to the Charitable Foundation.”
Maria added: “This team build fantastic relationships with staff, patients and our local community to raise the profile of the Charitable Foundation. All of our volunteers and fundraisers in the community are so enthusiastic and dedicated to supporting the work of the Trust. We couldn’t do what we do without them so we’d like to say thank you to them too.”
